An Honest Mistake
"You don't learn to walk by following rules. You learn by doing, and by falling over."
-Richard Branson
"Mistakes are the portals of discovery."
-James Joyce
"You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call 'failure' is not the falling down, but the staying down."
-Mary Pickford
In general, people have a lot to say about the subject of "mistakes" or "failure." And, if you think about it, we bet that some of your memorable stories are about moments in your life when not everything was going perfectly right. It's true: mistakes offer great learning opportunities. But they can also be the source of great stories. Which is why this week's prompts all revolve around the idea of "mistakes:"
1. Write a story about a character who makes a mistake and learns from it.
2. Write a story about a character who goes to great lengths to cover up a mistake.
3. Write a story about a group of people who meet every month to air out their mistakes.
4. Write a story about a mistake that results in wonderful consequences.
5. Write a story about a character reminiscing about past mistakes. Perhaps they come to view those "mistakes" in a new light.
